The D28114N grinder is equipped with a patent pending CEC - Complete Electronic Control system
to provide increased durability for end users. The CEC system includes E-Clutch, an electronic
clutch mechanism that detects a pinch or bind-up situation and shuts the motor off immediately to
reduce the risk of burn-up. It also reduces the risk of kickback during operation. The D28114N
includes dual abrasion protection in the motor, which features an epoxy coated field that protects
the copper in the motor and an armature debris deflector that deflects dust and debris away from
the motor. The patent pending Dust Ejection System increases durability of the grinders by ejecting
debris that enter the tool through the air-intake vents, reducing the occurrence of debris damaging
the motor. In order to increase power without significantly increasing tool girth, DEWALT built this
line of high-performance grinders with a patent pending 4-piece G55 motor. This innovative motor
design allows for 50 percent more copper than standard motors by employing next generation coil
winding processes, making the grinders among the smallest in their class while still offering the
most power. The D28114N has a 13 amp, 2.3 max motor HP motor and has been designed to deliver
nearly 30 percent more power than the previous models. For increased ease-of-use, the D28114
can accommodate both 4 ½" and 5" guards and wheels and are each equipped with a 5" Type 27
guard and 5" Type 27 wheel. Additionally, each high performance grinder was designed with a
Quick-Change wheel release system that allows users to remove wheels without a wrench. The
D28114N is equipped with a paddle switch.
